What temperature should my freezer be set to for holding ice sculptures?

Freezers that hold ice sculptures are generally set at 10 degrees to 15 degrees Fahrenheit.

How do I handle and pick up the ice sculpture?

The ice will be protected and can be moved by kart or hand truck dolly. We sometimes cut handles into the base so it is easier to pick up.

Generally, one hour prior to the guest arriving, larger installations take more time. If it is a food tray you may want extra time to arrange the food display.

You may need to temper your ice longer; you can place it in a walk-in cooler for an hour before you install. Also keep it covered with a trash bag can help but might make some creases if it starts melting.

Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or obstructed in the pan by ice or food and that the end of the tube is not in water to cause backflow pressure.

Can I take the sculpture home with me?

Why is my ice frosty and not clear after it is set up?

The ice is tempering, be patient!! The ice will clear as it tempers into the environment, do not try to speed up this process with water or heat as your ice may then crack or fracture.

What if my ice seems to be melting to fast?

Make sure that the sculpture is not in front of a fan or vent or near any heat sources. The ambient temperature of the room can come into play as well.
